Book design for 101 easy asian recipes, Lucky Peach’s first cookbook. This book was a real team effort, and a real hoot to work on. Most of the visual appeal/identity of the project comes from the styling and vibe of the photographs–fooded by Mary Frances-Heck, styled by Hannah Clark and Mark Ibold, shot by Gabriele Stabile, and overlorded by Peter Meehan–so I was happy to let the design be simple and focused on highlighting the photos, with a few fun design moments scattered throughout. Also of note, re: the photographs– this book was shot entirely in Peter and Hannah’s apartment, while they also tried to live normal lives and raise their family, though you wouldn’t be able to tell from looking at the photos. There are also drawings by Jason Polan throughout. The book was co-designed by Helen Tseng, who was a real joy to work with!
